What’s on the horizon? As a new member of the Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital’s Women’s Board, I am focused on the 75th Anniversary Gala on May 7 Mantra? The Golden Rule: treat others the way you want to be treated Best grooming tip? Sunblock and a hat Guilty pleasure? A drink while blasting music and cooking Favorite foods? I love all food so much so this is tough, I’ll pick sushi, pizza, and steak Music you love? Paul Simon, The Band, and Zac Brown Band Best advice ever given to you? “The days go slow but the years go fast,” this helps me pause and enjoy my little ones each day Best advice you’ve given? Be patient and kind with yourself. I mainly hear myself telling this to new moms. What a learning curve it is, it’s hard to accept the patience that is required with becoming a parent Earliest memory? Being in the basement at my grandparents’ house and helping my incredibly patient grandfather build a rocking chair When you wake up, you? Wonder at what hour all of these children made it into my bed. Then I drink a large glass of ice water before I touch coffee or the breakfast my husband has made Before bed, you? Apply Aquaphor, read, and pray What’s on your bookshelf? A lot of World War II books, Kristin Hannah, and my next-up read is T.C. Boyle’s The Tortilla Curtain You can’t live without? That’s easy, my family. But if I need to choose an item, I would say my Kindle Love to escape to? Naples Advice you would give to your younger self? Don’t worry so much, things seem to work out exactly how they are meant to
ON THE SHORE
Your style is? More, “things will likely get wiped on me throughout the day” so jeans or yoga pants Can’t leave the house without? Baby wipes Transportation? Minivan Driving music? The voices of my little ones singing their favorite songs, I prefer it to any radio station Place to eat? Miramar, Inovasi, or Puck’s Pub Shop? Lake Forest Book Store Best thing about the Shore? Its beauty. With the lake, Open Lands, and Elawa Farm in our backyard, we have so much to explore Worst thing about the Shore? Places close too early The perfect day is? Loading all of the kids into the car first thing in the morning to stop at a local coffee shop then heading to a playground, preferably at the beach. Ends with a beer at Lake Bluff Brewery with my husband and friends
IN THE CITY
Your style is? Jeans, I usually attempt to be a bit more put together Can’t leave the house without? Sunglasses and phone Transportation? Uber or Lyft Driving music? Typically, the kids aren’t with me so I get to control the radio, what a treat Place to eat? Athenian Room Shop? All the shops on Armitage Best thing about the City? The restaurants Worst thing about the City? Fighting the traffic The perfect day is? Starts at a farmers market and the rest of the day is spent walking around the city, stopping to eat and drink
