Dr. Laura K. Bianchi and Dr. Manoj K. Mehta, two of the area’s top gastroenterologists, provide comprehensive consultative care and expert in-office endoscopic procedures. Both board-certified physicians treat a wide range of GI conditions, such as reflux, IBS, and bowel issues, plus provide routine colorectal cancer screening.
Dr. Mehta founded the Endoscopy Center to create a comfortable, state-of-the-art alternative to the busy hospital setting. “Patients on the North Shore are particularly health savvy,” he states. “They know the value of individualized care.” He and his entire staff focus on one patient at a time. “No one is ever treated like a number. Each patient has our full attention,” he says. Dr. Mehta’s interests include IBD, the bacterial microbiome, IBS, eosinophilic esophagitis, and complex second opinions. He is interested in quality improvement and innovation, like bringing artificial intelligence to the Endoscopy Center for several studies.
Although new to the Endoscopy Center, Dr. Bianchi has built a thriving local practice over the past 16 years. During GI fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, she developed an interest in inherited GI cancer syndromes. “There is an increasing incidence of colorectal cancer in young adults,” she shares, “so my focus on cancer prevention through diet and lifestyle modification, genetic counseling, or identifying high-risk patients who may need earlier screening tests is especially important right now.” She established the Women’s GI Center at NorthShore University, with a focus on GI cancer prevention, after seeing that women are often not heard or treated the same as their male counterparts.
Both physicians have a reputation for providing high-quality, patient-focused care, for taking the time to listen, and empowering patients to make informed health care decisions. The Endoscopy Center is a fully accredited outpatient facility, with full safety measures, an on-site anesthesiologist, and carries the ASGE’s highest quality certification.
