LARYSA DOMINO, team lead and a real estate broker with @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, knows numbers. Recognized as a longstanding Top Hinsdale Team, Domino’s clients confidently attribute her results to her background in corporate finance and her roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. The Northwestern University alum, with a B.A. in economics, CPA, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, enjoys helping clients make sound investments in the place they call home.
What excites you most about the future of your industry? One thing that is for certain is change and the real estate industry is no exception to this fact. Speed and accessibility rule the marketplace now. Off-market transactions have increased, and even seasoned brokers must identify inventory for their clients that is not available from mainstream sources. Multi-million-dollar decisions are now made in a matter of hours based on multiple offer situations. More than ever, clients value a true partner in their home purchase or sale; a real estate broker who will guide them in one of life’s largest financial decisions.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? Timing and creativity are everything. I bring exclusive and creative ideas to every home marketing plan. There is no cookie-cutter approach. Each home is unique and requires its own special story. Timing, ultimately, is the main driver of the strategy. Timing impacts everything from move date, price, and even the bid cadence. Proper planning and communication are also key to each transaction. We speak to clients that would like to move in less than a month as well as clients that hope to move next summer. Strategy development for every scenario is our goal.
What’s one piece of advice you wish you’d received earlier in your career? I was always great at math as I grew up, so I studied finance in college and had corporate finance roles after university. However, deep down I really loved working with people. It took me several years to figure out that I needed a career that would connect me with people and help make a meaningful difference in their life. When I changed careers and went into real estate it was scary, but just what I needed. The special part of my business now is the deep relationships I make with my clients through the home purchase or sale process. Bottom line—don’t be afraid of change if it might put you just where you need to be.
