The Birthday Club

As Hinsdale Living celebrates 10 years of serving the residents of Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Clarendon Hills, and Burr Ridge in 2021, 10 other local institutions are also celebrating milestones this year. Cheers to these community icons.

BRUSH PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY-10TH Mira Albert founded Brush Pediatric Dentistry in 2011 with a vision to make dentistry more fun for kids. Albert and her “smarty-pant doctors” vow to give every child they encounter a chance at the Hinsdale practice to grow and succeed in their dental health.

PAGE’S RESTAURANT-40TH
Page’s Restaurant has been serving “simply delicious” breakfast and lunch in Hinsdale since 1981. Known for being quaint, friendly, and unpretentious, locals continue to rave about Page’s homemade apple cider donuts.

THE COURTYARD–30TH
Since 1991, sales from The Courtyard’s unique selection of previously owned, high-quality furniture and one-of-a-kind home accessories have supported The Wellness House, a Hinsdale-based nonprofit organization that helps people meet the challenges of life after a cancer diagnosis—resulting in more than $4 million in contributions over the last 30 years.

VILLAGE OF BURR RIDGE–65TH
Known as “A Very Special Place,” the Village of Burr Ridge was once the home of the Sioux, Pottawattamie, Ottawa, and Chippewa Indians. In 1956, 143 local residents incorporated these rolling hills of farmland as the Village of Harvester, later changing the name to Burr Ridge, due to its large stand of burr oak trees.

YANKEE PEDDLER-50TH

When Susan Tanner opened Yankee Peddler in 1972, her goal was to create a unique place to buy giftware, tabletop, and interior décor items along with antiques to create a rich and wonderful interior like no other. Fifty years later, the shop is run by her daughter, Stacy Tanner Lorin.

 

BALDINELLI–35TH
Baldinelli Pizza in Hinsdale began making a name for itself in 1986, offering a modern twist of Italian and American favorites. This family-owned, Italian-American restaurant turns food into an art form, serving Hinsdale and the Western Suburbs for 35 years.

THE LANE SCHOOL–65TH
The Lane School is a Blue Ribbon Award-winning elementary school known for an exemplary teaching staff and a supportive school community. Since 1956, The Lane Bulldog family has strived to ensure that all who enter its doors experience an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.

PHILIP’S FLOWERS, OAK BROOK-60TH
Founded in 1923, Phillip’s Flowers operates six award-winning flower shops, a design center, a commercial landscaping operation, and is considered one of Chicago’s leading florists. The Oak Brook location has been serving the Western Suburbs for 60 years.

THE COMMUNITY HOUSE-80TH
The Community House was created in 1941 by a group of visionaries who saw a need to support the community as the nation entered World War II. Today, the Hinsdale-based nonprofit continues to provide opportunities for athletics, arts and culture, counseling, education services, volunteer opportunities, and community connections.

OAK BROOK POLO CLUB-99TH
In 1922, businessman Paul Butler founded the Oak Brook Polo Club (OBPC), which today is one of the oldest polo clubs in the U.S. Ninety-nine years later, OBPC continues to be a popular Sunday tradition and social scene—known for entertaining Hollywood celebrities, dignitaries, royalty, and Chicago’s elite.
