Online luxury fashion retailer, Moda Operandi, founded on the trunk show model, allows customers to pre-order looks directly from designers immediately after their runway show—eliminating the need for waiting six months for their desired item to be available in retail stores. With Special Client Advisors based in Chicago, Moda works with clients throughout the area, including Barrington. Now, with many runway shows going virtual, Moda Live has been launched as a new buying tool. Moda Live is a series of exclusive live-streamed shopping events giving clients early access to full collections with the ability to shop and interact with designers in real-time.
We asked Lisa Aiken, to fill us in on fall trends:
LISA AIKEN: “In general, there was a tough luxe mood coming from even the most feminine of designers. For example, the lug sole boot, or as I like to call it, the “Off Duty Boot” is the most versatile shoe of the season, with the best options coming from Valentino and Bottega Veneta. They make a big statement when paired back to a girlish trapeze dress. The other important story was head to toe black; there was a parade of all black looks coming from brands such as Balenciaga and Victoria Beckham. The key is to mix in a variety of textures, from leather and suede, to knitwear and wool.”
LA: “Juxtaposing the naked sandal, which was the shoe of the moment this time last year, hardware and chain details are the latest footwear trends that will no doubt find their way into every woman’s shoe wardrobe this fall. This By Far pair was made for wearing morning to night.”
LA: “Bottega Veneta’s cassette bag, now designed with a chunky chain, is the must have item of the fall season, and this shade of chocolate brown is the color story all minimalists are loving right now.”
LA: “A touch of gold jewelry is essential to even the most casual outfits, and one of Moda’s favorite new discoveries is Leda Madera. The art deco inspired collection is perfect for adding a bit of glamour to simple looks, like a white tee and denim.”
LA: “Everyone is searching for the perfect cotton dress this season—a piece that can be dressed up with jewelry, and down with city-appropriate flats. Khaite checks all the boxes with this mini style—and that is coming from me, a longtime devotee of the midi length.”
