Every divorce is as unique as the family behind it. For Shana Vitek, that’s not just an observation, it’s the foundation of her practice. Before she builds a strategy, she listens to each client’s family history, takes the time to understand their goals, and works with them to find a path to achieving those goals. It’s an approach that has defined her work for more than 23 years at Beermann LLP, the nation’s largest family law firm.
By resolving conflict in a respectful, holistic, and goal-focused way, Vitek believes all members of a family can thrive in the years ahead. “All initial consultations include information about the alternatives to litigation,” she says.
Unfortunately, there are times when court is unavoidable. As one of only a handful of attorneys in Illinois to earn Board Certification in Family Trial Law from the National Board of Trial Advocacy, Vitek brings courtroom-tested command to emotionally and financially complex cases including divorces involving business owners, high-profile individuals, and high-net-worth clients. A Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, she currently serves as President-Elect of its Illinois Chapter.
Her commitment to the profession extends into the community. As Chair of the Beermann LLP Family Law Clinic, developed in partnership with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, Vitek leads a first-of-its-kind initiative providing pro bono representation to individuals who would otherwise face family court alone. “Given the size of our firm, we are in a unique position to make a big difference for clients who would otherwise go unrepresented,” she says. “We feel strongly about giving back.”
