MOLLY HAUNTY, PRINCIPAL: BERGER SCHATZ

For more than 13 years, attorney Molly Haunty has helped families and individuals in divorce and post-divorce matters, as well as representing clients with their assisted reproduction needs. A Principal at Berger Schatz specializing in family law, she thrives on leveling a couple’s power dynamic that often reveals itself as unbalanced during the divorce process. “It’s rewarding to help give someone his or her voice and confidence back,” says Haunty, a Northwestern University graduate who also received her J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. “I take great pride in tailoring creative solutions to help each family get to the next chapter.” One thing that sets her apart from other divorce attorneys is her ability to seamlessly and successfully navigate between alternative dispute resolution and litigation. “My litigation skill set, negotiation skill set, and extensive knowledge of family law allow me to confidently and creatively represent my clients in both areas,” she says, noting an experience she had during law school that had a profound influence on the attorney she is today. “I had the privilege of holding a judicial externship with The Honorable Magistrate Judge Morton Denlow. He taught me that to succeed in mediation, clients must look forward, not backward, and that lesson helped shape my practice,” explains Haunty. “My goal is to help my clients understand that winning isn’t the only objective in divorce. Instead, to the extent a settlement can be worked out, the objective is to reach an acceptable agreement that allows everyone to move on. If litigation is necessary, my goal remains the same: helping clients achieve a resolution.” In addition to her practice, she is passionate about giving back to the Hinsdale area community through her involvement with Wellness House and the Hinsdale Historical Society.
