KATIE HACKETT BAISLEY pursued her real estate license in 2009 during the worst real estate market in recent history. At the time she thought, “If I can make it in this market, I can handle this crazy business.” As a broker with @properties, her career was just ramping up in 2014, when her first husband tragically passed away while she was six months pregnant with their son and had their 1-year-old daughter at home. She unexpectedly found herself in role of sole provider for her family with a heightened focus on work. Over the years she has grown her business in both the city and suburbs, but recently really honed in on the North Shore. She says the secret to her success is being straightforward, professional, and transparent with clients. Last year, at the height of the pandemic, KHB Residential had over $40 million in closed sales and property under contract. Happily, in 2019, Katie was remarried to Jamie Baisley. And they, along with Finley (9) and Jack (7) just welcomed baby brother, Will, to the family in May. But, this life event sure did not slow down Katie’s business. KHB Residential already has over $30 million in closed sales and property under contract this year. A Winnetka native, Katie attended Faith Hope & Charity—where her kids are students today—Loyola Academy and Georgetown University.
