Dr. Mark E. Mass is an experienced, board-certified emergency medicine physician, and founder of Lake Forest Acute Care, which opened its doors in Lake Forest in 2013. As a local resident for more than 20 years, he saw a need for accessible, walk-in, urgent care services in the community and created that. His education includes a medical degree from The University of Illinois College of Medicine, a General Surgery internship through the University of Michigan, and an Emergency Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh. After residency, Dr. Mass served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center. In addition, Dr. Mass has also been on staff at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital since 1999, where he has served as the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director. When Dr. Mass isn’t treating the acute needs on the North Shore, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Karen Mass, his four daughters, and his Wheaton terrier.
