Located within the working portion of the A B Dick estate in Lake Forest, husband and wife team, R. Nicholas Loope, FAIA (Ryc) and Lynne Beyer, bring the STUDIO @ Westmoreland Farm™ to the North Shore. Ryc, an architect and licensed general contractor began his career in the offices of the renowned American architect Charles Moore before establishing his eponymous firm in 1979. Ryc, who is NCARB certified, actively licensed in numerous states, brings his extensive experience including serving as the President and Principal Architect of the Frank Lloyd Wright successor firm Taliesin Architects and contributions to more than 450 projects across the globe. By his side, Lynne is a second generation, award-winning interior designer. Her portfolio includes a wide array of projects in luxury residential interiors and boutique hospitality projects, including the Condé Nast award-winning Sanctuary Resort on Camelback Mountain. Together, Lynne and Ryc are excited to return to the Midwest and launch their next chapter, one which is sure to reveal their best work yet.
What sets you apart from your competition?
Lynne: I really love learning about people, their needs, and finding the solutions that do not stress, but rather thrill the client. Making their lives less complicated through my experience and management of a project is one of our foundational goals. So many people can do the beautiful, visible work, but the business of the project must be handled masterfully, and I believe we do that well.
Ryc: We embrace both the art in design as well as the craft in building. We focus on our client’s vision rather than a particular style or fashion.
What inspires you right now?
Ryc: The depth and richness of the American design ethos throughout the North Shore communities and in Chicago.
Lynne: Finding items to repurpose—things with intrinsic provenance and classic value. We are masters at building on what clients have, editing carefully, and then finding the critical design elements and items needed for success.
Areas one should invest in?
Lynne: Good question! Investing wisely in whatever you procure is so important … there are definite areas where that is critical for durability and quality. I am all for a bit of fun and whimsy, but I guide my clients to take all things into consideration when investing and making the best selections for their needs.
Ryc: Quality natural materials in the hands of superior craftspeople constructed well, with a high level of fit and finish.
Best thing about 2022?
Lynne & Ryc: Moving into our property in Lake Forest! Also, meeting so many wonderful new friends and clients and having the opportunity to own a small piece of true American history.
Most looking forward to in 2023?
Ryc & Lynne: The launch of the STUDIO @ Westmoreland Farm™, new clients, and new opportunities for excellent design works.
