When PEYTON MERRILL began making plans to open her own women’s clothing boutique, she knew the shop had to be named after Bunny Mellon and Babe Paley, America’s first influencers and fashion icons. “After reading their biographies, I was inspired by Bunny and Babe’s fashion and interior design sensibilities,” Merrill says. “Their fabulous aspirational lifestyle provides fun inspiration to so many, even in our modern times.” Hence, Bunny & Babe, located in picturesque Winnetka, opened to much anticipation last year. Offering a curated collection of unique elevated fashion and home designs, Bunny & Babe’s beautifully appointed shop was designed by Merrill, an interior design aficionado herself. Bunny & Babe’s aesthetic and offerings are classic and feminine with an edge reminiscent of the two glamorous women who inspired the name—with fashion from brands such as Saloni, Apiece Apart, Cara Cara, and Alix of Bohemia. Merrill honed her business skills and developed her discerning style while working in visual merchandising for the iconic American brands Ann Taylor and J.Crew, a stint in London as Head of Visual Merchandising for Thomas Pink, and then her own interior design company here at home. At the welcoming shop with the whimsical blue and white awning on Chestnut Street, you’ll find Merrill dressed in great fitting denim, a colorful chic blouse, and fabulous accessories. Be sure to visit their additional space at 559 Chestnut Street, which offers both classically feminine style and a hint of edge for the North Shore’s younger set. Her motto: “Work hard and remember to make it fun!” It always helps to be dressed impeccably for the part.
Bunny & Babe is located at 555 and 559 Chestnut Street in Winnetka. For more information, call 847-000-3255 or visit bunnyandbabe.com.
