MONICA MUCIACCIA CHOVANEC practiced as a certified school psychologist in Illinois for 12 years prior to starting MMC Educational Consulting and Staffing LLC (MMC Staffing). Founded in 2022, the company focuses on filling special education needs. “We identify what schools have needs for educators in the greater Chicago area and fill the vacancies to meet the needs of children,” explains Chovanec. Over the span of 18 months, MMC Staffing has grown from just Chovanec to more than 30 team members. The company also recently partnered with the national educational staffing agency, Stepping Stones Group, to expand services across the country. Chovanec is a wife and mother of two with a 4-year old son and 1-year-old daughter who she loves deeply.

Most rewarding part of what you do? In the end, it is all about the kids. The more educators that we can motivate to accept positions, the better the outcome for our children and community. We do it for them!

How should women support other women? The less we judge others the better.

How do you inspire others? I have always found speaking honestly and concisely is motivational. Having confidence in what you preach about internally is also helpful. If you believe in what you do and what you want others to believe, it’s noticeable.

Definition of success? For me personally I would say when you and your loved ones are healthy, happy, and financially stable, this is pure happiness and success. I can honestly say I feel pretty successful in my personal and professional life. I am one lucky woman.

Powerful woman you admire the most? My mom! She is the most kind, light-hearted, honest, dedicated, and caring person I have ever crossed paths with. She has made me who I am today.
