Born and raised on Long Island, DAVID HOLLINGER arrived in Chicago in 2007 and never left. In 2013, he cofounded Chicago Sports Institute, a private personal training and sports performance facility in Northfield. He is in the business of changing people’s lives through wellness. That is the standard to which Hollinger and his staff hold themselves accountable. They believe when a client pays to work with a trainer, they should demand a Return on Investment. The Chicago Sports Institute staff pushes clients to work hard, and in return clients see results. Looking to give the gift of fitness? Hollinger is ready and willing to make it happen. Here is how this strapping Lake Forester stays on-trend.
ON HIS NIGHTSTAND
“Right now I’m re-reading Tony Robbins’ Creating Lasting Change, which is a book/program that teaches you how to inspire and help others make a positive life transformation. Before that, I read Gino Wickman’s Traction about improving your business operations. And before that, I read Robert Iger’s Ride of a Lifetime. In general, I choose books with practical applications to my business or ones that make me a better leader. I’m never satisfied. Everything can be improved, whether it’s my leadership or our services or operations, so staff can focus even more attention on clients and their results. I don’t read for pleasure. I read to grow.”
IN HIS EARBUDS
“In a different life, I would have been a DJ. In the gym, I’ve been getting into Electronic Dance Music like Diplo and Dillon Francis. I can’t get enough of those beats. At home when I’m looking to escape the grind and am feeling nostalgic for simpler times, I put on Ne-Yo or 112. Ne-Yo’s “In My Own Words” is an amazing album, and it immediately takes me back.”
ON HIS MOBILE
“I love Gary Vaynerchuk. He’s all about the grind and outworking your competition, which resonates with me. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a fellow Jets fan. Anyone I follow has to either be motivational or provide some levity. So I also follow Mel Robbins, and Bob Menery just kills me.”
