Christopher Patterson, Branch Manager at Stifel, says his 27 years of success in finance is proof that a hard work ethic always pays off. “I was working six days, 50 to 60 hours a week, when I first got into the industry in my mid-20s while also starting a family,” says Patterson, who raised two children, Mercedes and Cozette, in the Hinsdale community with his wife, Juhl. “I built a practice through teaching investment classes to communities because I loved educating the public about investing.” His expertise in fixed income, private equities, portfolio management, regulatory supervision, private equities, and alternative investments is put to work for the clients he serves—investing the same time and care into their goals as he does the ones for his own family. “Being in the industry for so long, I’ve built long standing relationships with my clients, seeing them and their own families grow throughout the years,” he says, explaining that he works to balance the goals of the client, the company, and the financial advisor all within the framework of the regulatory system. “I believe in valued guidance in a cost effective manner with a golden rule of ‘treat others as you would like to be treated’.” This level of dedication and discipline can also be seen in Patterson’s personal passion as a triathlete and cyclist, sports he has been engaging in since the 1990s. “I continue cycling to this day and lead a community cycling group,” he adds, “channeling my love for the sport and community engagement.”
