Art of the Sale

“Selling existing homes is an art, not a science,” says Courtney Stach, owner and broker at County Line Properties. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t bring data into her work. She’s an excellent negotiator, in large part because she listens, analyzes data, troubleshoots, and brings solutions to clients whether they’re buying or selling. That said, science only takes you so far. “My prior experience in sales, advertising and building data networks, managing people and problems, and understanding technology and the way people think, help me in my daily real estate sales goals and initiatives for all clientele,” she says. That, in other words, is the art of real estate. County Line Properties is a family business. “My pride shines in working with families and helping them buy or sell their most precious asset—their home. I work with my family in a family business, and the agents we hire and work with are our family, too,” she says. “I treasure the experience I had as a kid growing up in the industry, answering the phones at Adam’s & Myer’s on the weekends as I saw the industry evolve from paper MLS books to the Internet,” she says. The Internet and TV shows like Property Brothers have undoubtedly changed the industry. “Most everyone wants to change them or make them their own unless they are buying new construction,” she says. “I love the creative element of these shows and it creates a fertile atmosphere for making things that are not brand new suit the current buyer market clientele.” It takes a strong work ethic and a tenacious disposition to succeed in Hinsdale real estate, Stach says. She’s also learned putting clients over everything builds a strong referral base, and takes the time to honor her agent peers because they often help finish the deals. Stach is working to build her team, the Courtney Stach Group, and build on the strong foundation of her family business. “Hinsdale is a family-based community, with deep roots and a healthy atmosphere to raise a family and to grow old,” she says. “Having grown up here, and knowing my grandparents raised my dad here, it is an honor and a tribute to our family heritage to keep working to better our communities and support our schools and villages with service and integrity.”
