Kick-off the holiday season with the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago Winter Wishes fundraiser at the Casino Club. On November 18, Wilmette’s ABBY DUNN and Lake Forest’s KATE KELLIHER will be co-chairing the 11th annual event—a Holiday Cocktail Celebration. During the evening, attendees will have an opportunity to support the hospital’s Wish List, assisting with the delivery of world-class medical care to the children of Chicago and beyond. Here is how this busy duo stays on-trend.
ON THEIR MOBILES
Kelliher: “I’m following the Australian news. My husband and I are Australian and the pandemic means we are unable to return home to see our extended family. I want to know the minute restrictions will ease and borders will open.” Dunn: “I love to follow local women businesses such as Bunny & Babe, athene, The 60’s Beauty Lash, and Rowan Collective and see what they are up to and how I can support them.”
ON THEIR NIGHTSTANDS
Kelliher: “Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty. Moriarty’s characters are so welldrawn, often deeply flawed, and immensely relatable. She has a wonderful talent for describing complex relationships and I also appreciate her distinctly Australian voice and perspective.” Dunn: “Reading is my favorite way to decompress on a weeknight. I always love to chat with the team at The Book Stall about their latest recommendations and run my choices by my mom who is also an avid reader. Right now, I am reading The Magician by Colm Toibin, which is an incredible piece of historical fiction.”
IN THEIR AIRPODS
Kelliher: “I’m listening to country music playlists made by my daughter who is a sophomore in college. They make me nostalgic for our family road trip through Montana, Wyoming, and Utah last summer.” Dunn: “I’m having an Elton John moment as it’s both nostalgic and fun and I for sure will be at his final tour next year. But my favorite thing to do on our family road trips to Northern Michigan is to rotate a favorite song pick by each family member which keeps the journey interesting for all.”
