WINNING WORK ETHIC

As the child of an immigrant, JENNY LIM SPIGGOS watched her parents work countless hours a day, six to seven days a week, instilling a work ethic that stays with her today as a broker at Coldwell Banker Realty. “My late mother, who spoke broken English, found success as a general contractor so real estate came very naturally to me,” says Lim Spiggos, adding that her mother is also one of her greatest inspirations. “She always told me I can achieve anything as long as I had the determination and work ethic.” Lim Spiggos and her partner, Pete Mangione, have earned top awards at Coldwell Banker, including President’s Club. She was also featured in a real estate reality TV show on Hulu about first-time home buyers earlier this year. Despite this success, she says that what makes her most proud are her two sons, Devin and Brady.

How should women support other women? By uplifting their spirits and collaborating to make one another better. How do you inspire others? I tell my truth, my story. I try to make people feel important.

Definition of success? Loving what I do, achieving financial independence as a single mother, but most importantly raising my boys to be kind and responsible human beings.

Greatest risk you’ve taken as a professional? Going into a commission-only career as the sole bread winner of my family.

Best piece of advice for anyone starting out? This is not a parttime job. Also, tell everyone who you are and what you do. You want to be the fore front of everyone’s mind when they think of a Realtor.
