For more than three decades, Lillie Alexander has been the North Shore’s style mecca nestled in Lake Forest, bringing elevated fashion and personal style to discerning shoppers. And with a wildly successful pop-up late last year in downtown Hinsdale, its second location is now official. With a stunning new storefront at 18 W. First Street—and a rebrand that’s deeply personal—owner Lauren Peters is writing the next chapter, titled Winterfield.

The new name is Peters’ maiden name. Hinsdale is her hometown. And the story behind both is exactly the kind of thing that makes a boutique feel like more than a place to shop. The rebrand wasn’t just sentimental—it was strategic. “The Lillie Alexander of 2026 is unrecognizable from the Lillie Alexander of 2023,” Peters explains. With a dramatically elevated physical space, brand matrix, and client experience, a fresh identity felt overdue.

The Hinsdale outpost itself was born from a little thing called serendipity. A little birdie sang the idea to Peters of opening a Hinsdale locale. “I laughed because I was already working 100-hour weeks,” she admits—but the idea wouldn’t let go. What started as a tiny pop-up just before Thanksgiving, secured through an almost impossible short-term lease, quickly proved its worth. “The response was overwhelming,” Peters says. “It just felt right.”

That momentum led to the stunning, light-filled permanent space that now houses Winterfield. The brand lineup alone is worth the visit. Winterfield brings exclusive offerings including La Ligne, Leo Lin, Alix of Bohemia, Sablyn, Soft Goat, Rebecca Vallance, Solace London, and Naadam cashmere—alongside staples like Nili Lotan, Rachel Gilbert, Guest in Residence, LoveShackFancy, Loeffler Randall, and Malone Souliers, among many notable designers.

But what truly sets Winterfield apart isn’t the labels. It’s the experience. “I’m not trying to make it bearable, I’m trying to make it a desirable activity and a destination in and of itself,” she says. The team is trained in fit, styling, and genuine connection. “You can get cute clothes anywhere just by tapping your phone!” she says. “But styling, fit, and connection are what provide the closet confidence.”

At its heart, Winterfield is Peters’ love letter to Hinsdale, to the art of dressing well, and to the kind of shopping experience that leaves shoppers feeling genuinely elevated. “I want Winterfield to be a place people walk into when they need a boost and just want to feel good,” she says.
