Art dealer Christine Gebauer sees every bare wall as an opportunity for transformation. As the founder of Celestial Art Curation in downtown Hinsdale, her goal is to help you find works of art to fill those walls without breaking the budget. “We source original fine art from local artists and make it available to view online and now in person at our new gallery,” says Gebauer, a former corporate retail buyer. “We represent established, as well as emerging artists and offer original art at all price points. We believe art is for everyone and we host a variety of exhibitions and events at the gallery to engage the community in the local art scene.”

What trends are you currently seeing in the art curation industry, and how do you anticipate these trends evolving over the next year?
I am seeing clients leading conversations about art selection with “I want to feel…” and allowing me to make recommendations based on the overall experience they want to have in their home. Art is like a thermostat for mood. Whether you want to feel “calm” or “energized,” you can influence that by selecting complimentary artwork for the space.

How do you tailor your services to meet the unique needs of luxury homeowners?
We know that every client is unique and approaches art collecting in their own way. Some clients prefer to view art online and measure at home while they think over a new piece, while others love to pop into the gallery and pluck pieces off the wall that steal their heart. We meet clients wherever they are—in person, in their homes, or online—to make selecting art effortless and rewarding. We offer art advisory, commission coordination, in-home viewings, framing options, shipping, delivery, and installation.

What’s one of the most memorable projects you’ve worked on, and what made it stand out for you and your client?
I had a new client—a seasoned collector who had recently relocated—seek out our gallery to see the work of abstract artist Sherman Khan. When I arrived at her home, I had the pleasure of viewing her existing art collection. I was in awe of how well the pieces she had asked to see fit within her existing collection and new home. They were like the missing puzzle pieces. Assisting clients in building meaningful art collections is both an honor and a joy.
