Vision Quest

There are no second chances when it comes to making a first impression, and Hinsdale’s EFP Opticians know this better than most.
“Your face is the first thing people see when you meet them,” says EFP manager, and optician Dory Kenna. “Our clients have to trust that we will help them make the best decisions about their eyewear. We want them to look and feel their best.”
EFP Opticians differentiates itself from other retailers in the marketplace by offering a custom experience from the minute you walk through their doors. Their retail spaces—in Chicago’s Gold Coast and Hinsdale—feel like a comfortable living room.
“It doesn’t need to be a race when you’re shopping for eyewear,” explains Boyce Moffitt, general manager, partner, and optician. “We want our clients to feel relaxed and know that they have the time to make the decision that’s best for them. We aren’t like some places that put a tray of frames in front of a client and let them be. We really advise our customers on making the best purchase.”
EFP Opticians have more than 40 years of experience collectively helping clients in the Hinsdale area. They have tremendous expertise in fit, functionality, and eyewear comfort. Kenna and fellow optician Rebecca Hallberg have deep roots in the Hinsdale area and are well known in the community. The staff at EFP Opticians also pride themselves on offering lines of frames (like Vuarnet) that you can’t find everywhere else.
“We understand while our clients are fashion conscious, they don’t want to look like everyone they pass on the streets,” adds Moffitt, who encourages people to consider something different when being fitted for their prescription and non-prescription sunwear. “We have unique lines that are only available in our stores that also allow you to stay on trend.”
It’s important to EFP Opticians to partner with designers who hand-craft their frames. Nothing in their stores is mass produced. The name EFP Opticians is a clever nod to the eyewear world.
“It’s fun to have our clients try to guess what it stands for,” says Moffitt. “It actually can be explained in two ways. EFP is an acronym for ‘Eyewear,’ ‘Fashions,’ and ‘Personalized.’ But E, F, and P are also the first three letters on the eye chart. Your vision at its best is truly at the core of what we do. Our name says it all.”
EFP Opticians is located at 12 East 1st Street in Hinsdale, 630-325-2020, efpopticians.com.
