It is no wonder that after having to endure several months of our Chicago winter, people just want to get outside in the sun, breathe in some fresh air, and take advantage of everything our quaint town has to offer. There is one spot in town that is unique—not only to Barrington, but to any suburban location to do all of this and more.
“The Shakou Rooftop Terrace provides a city-caliber rooftop experience close to home,” explains Adam Garvanian, who co-owns Shakou in Barrington alongside business partners Ed Hartigan and Aleks Dupor. “We are known for our elegant interior décor that makes people feel like they are in the city, so we wanted to make sure and carry that over to our terrace rooftop,” adds Dupor. Whether enjoying Shakou’s signature cocktails and diverse menu while soaking up rays, relaxing in the shade of the gorgeous pergola, or sitting under the stars next to one of the many cozy heat elements, you are sure to agree that Shakou is the ideal hotspot for any occasion. The outdoor space—which overlooks Barrington’s charming Main Street and opened officially for the season last month—has also become quite the setting for a long list of private events, charity functions, and fundraisers.
The rooftop terrace, which opened in 2015, can accommodate up to 75 guests comfortably and is seamlessly connected to an open indoor upper level space that makes you feel like your still outside. It boasts its own private bar and can accommodate an additional 100 guests. “Due to the response from the community in past seasons, we have added more overall seating to the terrace and upper level as well as larger couches to accommodate any and all private events,” says Hartigan.
For those of you looking to host your next event here with more than 175 guests, the Shakou Barrington main level holds 150 guests, making the full venue capacity around 325 guests. Through the years, Shakou Barrington has served as the perfect setting for a number of private events, including the Barrington Children’s Charities Annual Derby Party.
Of course, Shakou Barrington is just one of a growing group of premier restaurants under the Shakou brand whose line of restaurants has been listed in the Top 100 Hot Spot Restaurants along with the Top 10 Chicago Asian Eateries by Open Table. Lovers of modern Asian cuisine will recall that Shakou landed onto the Chicago suburban restaurant scene back in 2013 with the restaurant’s original location in Libertyville. Through the years, the brand has grown to include additional locations in Arlington Heights, St. Charles, and Park Ridge bringing the total to five.
Whether you are seeking to have a night out with family and friends, host a private event, or grab lunch with clients or business associates in the heart of Barrington, the terrace at Shakou Barrington is the place for you.
Shakou Barrington is located at 121 W. Main Street in Barrington, 224-655-2853, shakourestaurants.com.
