The Real Deal

Winnetka-based real estate agent, KATIE MOOR, or “@northshore_katiemoor” as many of her friends now half-jokingly call her, has a love for the North Shore that extends beyond the depths of Lake Michigan. She’ll never forget the day she first visited the area, nearly 20 years ago. It was one of those “top-ten” summer days, and the drive North on Sheridan Road from the city was jaw-dropping. Taking in the Caribbean-like lake views and endless architectural beauty, Moor vowed that someday she would call the North Shore “home.” After over a decade of city living, Moor and her young family have fulfilled that prophecy and are thrilled to reside in Winnetka. As an agent on The Dawn McKenna Group, Coldwell Banker’s #1 team in the Midwest, Moor often pinches herself that she not only gets to live and raise her children in this idyllic setting but that she has the opportunity to introduce new people to the North Shore lifestyle. She prides herself on being a local expert, and her passion for the area is contagious. This is how Moor stays on-trend:
ON HER MOBILE
“Instagram is my go-to social platform, and I will shamelessly proclaim my love for it! I’m constantly discovering new brands, designers, artists, and interesting people, and it’s been a great way to connect with new clients and local businesses. I love following interior designer Britt Bromley (@bittybromley) who is based out of New York, and beyond fab in every aspect. On a local level, I can’t get enough of Summer Thornton (@summerthorntondesign) and Kelly Hurliman (@kellyhurlimandesign). I’ve been a fan of Summer’s for nearly a decade and it’s been amazing to watch her career skyrocket. Kelly’s background as a stylist extends into her interior design work—her spaces have an edginess and cool factor that I find so aspirational. From a fashion perspective, Bunny and Babe (@bunnyandbabewinnetka) and Athene (@athene_shop), two of my favorite women’s shops in Winnetka, share great content that is easy to shop locally. Lastly, I have to plug a brand I recently discovered, Agua by Agua Bendita (@aguabyaguabendita). I am dreaming of their beautiful dresses and swimwear for summer!”
ON HER NIGHTSTAND
“As a full-time working mom of two little girls (ages 3 and 5) reading for me these days is typically whatever I can soak up on Audible or from a podcast in between showings or while I’m taking a walk … multi-tasking is key for me. I love listening to self-improvement books, and I think Darren Hardy’s The Compound Effect is one of the very best. It speaks to the power that small, consistent actions can have in changing your life, and enforces that we all have the ability to build extraordinary lives. I come back to it time and time again for motivation and would recommend it to anyone looking to live their best life and achieve greatness.”
IN HER EARBUDS
“I credit my parents for instilling a love of music in me at a young age. John Mellencamp and George Strait filled the soundtrack of my youth and their music makes me painfully nostalgic in the very best way. Lately, I’ve been relying on my ever-growing Peloton playlist to keep me energized throughout the day which includes everything from Lady Gaga and Sam Smith to Lauryn Hill and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Music has been more important than ever during the pandemic; it’s the one thing that is nearly always guaranteed to lift my mood. I’m thrilled that Ravinia and Wrigley Field concerts are back in session, and that we’ll see the return of the Winnetka Music Fest this Fall. We all deserve it!”
