KATHERINE KARVELAS credits her success in life to being a problem solver and master networker, and to applying her work and life experience to whatever life hands her. “My strength lies in analyzing data and using a realistic approach to solve problems to achieve goals,” says the @properties real estate broker. “Whether in business or at home, ethics and values are a top priority.” Katherine spent the first part of her working career in education, first as a teacher and then in leadership roles. When she found herself a single mother of three, she called up what she had always told her students. “I taught my students to learn to apply their knowledge and skills to other aspects of life and work, and to be lifelong learners, and assured them that this is how they would grow and be successful in life,” she says. “Despite the risks involved with a career in real estate, I knew that I could make it to the top, and I was determined to get there.” She propelled herself to the top, and her work has been featured in Crain’s Chicago Business and on CNBC. Karvelas adds, “Just as important, philanthropy is at the core of my belief system and near and dear to my heart. In addition to being a supporter of the HJWC and other local nonprofits, I am proud and honored to serve as a board member on the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation Board.” Hard work, perseverance, and her spiritual guidance have made all the difference.
