GINA GOODEN grew up in Glenview and spent her career in human services. In recent years, she’s devoted her energy to raising her two children and making her community a better place. Gooden has spent years working with the Northwestern Settlement and its mission to disrupt generational poverty. Currently, she is President of the North Shore Board that supports House in the Wood Camp serving children from Chicago’s most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods with a STEM curriculum during the school year and a residential camp during the summer. Gooden is thrilled about the return of the in-person House in the Wood Gala on October 22. As President of the League of Women Voters of Winnetka-Northfield-Kenilworth, she is also excited to be leading the organization through its 100th year. Gooden takes a break from presidential duties and centennial celebrations to share how she stays on-trend.
ON HER NIGHTSTAND
“Currently on my nightstand is Xochitl Gonzalez’s Olga Dies Dreaming. I love the entertaining way it weaves politics, family secrets, and the illusion of the American dream all while making you think, smile, and wonder what Olga will do next.”
ON HER MOBILE
“With all the negativity online, I love following The Home Edit. It makes me happy to organize my house.”
IN HER EARBUDS
“I am obsessed with Eddie Vedder’s new album, Earthling.”
