Dr. Amy Chhadia spent more than two decades of her life watching other people’s lives fall apart.
“It was heartbreaking,” the accomplished physician says. “I was seeing people after the heart attack or after the stroke. I would look through their charts and what I would see was that something had been going on under the surface for years. If we had just connected the dots in advance, these things could have been avoided.”
That’s when the board-certified anesthesiologist from Barrington decided she could be the one who could connect those crucial dots–– so, she opened BluePath Longevity.
“It was hard to step away from a successful career, but I felt strong and I felt confident that I could really make a huge impact in this type of capacity,” says Dr. Chhadia. “Wellness, longevity, and proactive care have always been a big interest of mine. Instead of dealing with the aftermath of tragedy, I decided to try and divert it in the first place.”
BluePath Longevity is a new concierge medical practice in Schaumburg designed to help people prevent problems before they arise with the use of precision medicine, continuous diagnostics, and personalized prevention.
“It’s about going away from the reactive kind of model and towards more of a proactive ownership of your health,” says Dr. Chhadia, who opened the practice in November alongside fellow Blue- Path Longevity founder Dr. Syeda Madani. “It used to be where we thought health was a binary thing––you either have it or you don’t. But now we’re finding that it’s not just your genetics or your luck or anything like that. You have control over how you age. The difference between a thriving 65-year-old and one who’s managing chronic disease is not luck––it’s strategy. It’s all about having the right foundations in place.”
Yet, in a world with far too many opinions, confidently taking control of one’s health journey can prove to be difficult without the correct plan in place.
“People want to do the right thing, but everything is so fragmented,” Dr. Chhadia says. “People are learning stuff from Instagram or they’re getting ideas from TikTok or their neighbor is doing something that they want to try. It can be a lot.”
With the help of Dr. Chhadia, more and more men and women in the Chicagoland area are putting a stop to all the medical noise, and finding a path that works precisely for them.
“I look at a 360-degree view of everything that’s going on with them,” Dr. Chhadia explains. “The first question I always start with when I first meet someone is, ‘Tell me what’s really important to you. Imagine your life 25 years from now and tell me what you really want to be capable of.’ Essentially, we can reverse engineer it and see where you need to be right now in order to make that a reality, not just an abstract fantasy.”
Following an in-depth lifestyle intake, along with advanced blood work, Dr. Chhadia and her skilled team then work together to formulate a plan for the individual patient.
“It’s all about being really intentional and finding something that’s personalized to you,” says Dr. Chhadia, who schedules monthly check-ins with her patients following the initial appointments. “What might be right for me might not be right for the person sitting next to me. So, our goal is to do it in a precise and personalized way.”
And while each and every patient has their own individual health concerns and issues, there are some things that Dr. Chhadia says everyone needs to look at. “Almost everyone needs to build muscle mass,” she says. “And from there, we all need to protect our muscle mass.”
Thus far, Dr. Chhadia says that she has been incredibly happy with not only how well BluePath Longevity has been embraced by the community, but also with the very real changes she has seen firsthand in BluePath Longevity’s patients. “It’s all about taking control of one’s health span and one’s health journey,” she says. “It truly is a partnership.”
And the fact that many of those she is helping are real neighbors of hers makes the experience that much more rewarding.
“I know the people are who are walking in my door,” says the mother of four who moved to Barrington in 2009 with her husband, who works as an orthopedic surgeon. “On any given weekend, we go to my daughter’s lacrosse game and there’s all these parents cheering on their kids and it’s a community and everyone’s there for each other. But these are busy professionals too that give it their all. I’m in their shoes.”
So, while the idea of a longevity practice has long been popular in markets such as New York City and Los Angeles, bringing it to the Midwest feels like bringing it truly home for Dr. Chhadia. “I really wanted to bring something back here where people could get elite world-class care that’s going to improve their health span,” she says. “So, to bring all of that here has been really special.”
