SMILE WITH YOUR EYES
LOCAL BUSINESS owner Jennifer Bobay continually faced challenges finding makeup that was not irritating or harmful to her sensitive skin. Her quest for quality makeup with gentle ingredients led her to launch Jar Bar Makeup in 2014. The complete mineral makeup line is free of parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, bismuth chloride, and talc.
Bobay’s grandmother, Toni Dauer, would be proud. Dauer—a great source of inspiration to Bobay—was in the beauty industry, cutting and styling hair during the Depression. She believed in the importance of beauty, and shared stories with her granddaughter of clients paying a nickel or dime for a haircut when they had no money. Now it is Bobay who believes in the importance of beauty as she works through the trying times of COVID-19.
She believes that taking time for beauty rituals is therapeutic during this uncertain year, and is focused on teaching clients how to wear makeup during this pandemic with everyone’s indispensable accessory—the mask. The attention becomes “glowing skin, defined eyes, full brows, and adding lip liner for less smudging behind the mask,” she says. Her new brow gels, eye liners, and custom face and eye palettes may be exactly what you need. “Wear the mask for other people, but wear your makeup for you,” Bobay declares.

TSE ON THE SQUARE
TSE, the subtle-chic cashmere shop on Lake Forest’s Market Square, is more excited than ever to share its new collection. The company feels especially grateful in today’s current retail climate. “We want thank our Lake Forest community for its incredible support, showing that TSE’s quiet luxury remains strong during these COVID days,” says TSE Sales Director Megan Morris. Founded in 1989, TSE (pronounced “say”) was formed with intention of redefining the use of cashmere and altering the perception that luxury has to be traditional.
TSE’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection reflects the spirit of Morocco. Silhouettes are designed to be artfully and playfully layered— a key element of the collection, which draws from the spiritual belief of a multi-layered life. It is TSE’s interpretation of how the modern woman lives her life today. Intricate patterns and prints throughout the collection are recognizable as a homage to the complex compositions of Moroccan tiles, as exhibited in stunningly engineered eyelets, hand crochet stitches, and directional digital prints.
As always, TSE continues to redefine the use of its signature yarn, and the collection is grounded on the principle that the caress of cashmere on the skin is true luxury. This season, they created decadent 22-ply layered cashmere pieces and a boiled cashmere blend; an experiential aspect of the collection that must be felt to be fully appreciated.
