TEAM EFFORT

The 2020-2021 school year has begun, and due to COVID-19 many schools have spent the last few months working to procure enough laptops to support a digital learning environment for students. In August, two Hinsdale residents—DuPage County Board Member GREG HART and DAVID ANDALCIO, CEO of Wynndalco Enterprises—stepped in to help and arranged a $20,000 donation of 50 laptops and two mobile LAN carts to Bensenville’s Fenton Community High School. “The COVID-induced shift to remote learning is exacerbating inequality of opportunity for many students without access to sufficient technology. These challenges are often faced by students in majority-minority school districts,” explains Hart on the decision to work with Fenton Community High School. This isn’t the first time the duo has made a commitment to educational equity—Hart helped spearhead a DuPage County initiative to provide internet service at no-cost to low-income online learning students during the pandemic.
