AN ELAWA THANKSGIVING

TAKE IT EASY this holiday season. The Elawa Farm Kitchen will prepare Thanksgiving sides for purchase, such as stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and fabulous pies. The sides will be made from local farm products, including produce from the Elawa Garden.

Elawa Farm is also taking orders online for juicy, pasture-raised, antibiotic-free Thanksgiving turkeys from Indiana’s Gunthorp Farm, now through mid- November. Thanksgiving Market pick-up will be held on the morning of Wednesday, November 25th at Elawa Farm.

For more information or to place an order, please visit elawafarm.org.

Lake Forest Scout Hockey Christmas Tree & Holiday Greens Sale

DECK THE HALLS

SCOUT HOCKEY has been offering high-quality Christmas trees and holiday greenery to the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff community for over thirty years. The trees are freshly cut from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, then loaded onto a truck and delivered to the organization. Scout hockey players personally contact customers and take their orders, which are now done online, and make arrangements for delivery and set up in the customers’ homes, if requested. All Scout hockey players work at the tree lot, unloading 2-3 semi-trucks full of merchandise when the trees arrive the weekend before Thanksgiving, setting up and selling merchandise to customers. Because Scout Hockey is a club sport and does not receive funding from the high school, the Christmas tree sale provides an important fundraising opportunity for players that helps defray the cost of playing hockey. In addition, Scout Hockey donates a portion of its sales to Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association’s (GLASA) sled hockey program.

Though the boys’ hockey season looks different this year, coaches have been creative, assembling opportunities for players to get on the ice to sharpen their skills and build team spirit. They look forward to continuing the decades-long tree and holiday greenery sale tradition.

Trees and greenery are available for pre-sale now at scouthockey.com. The November sale will take place behind Deer Path Middle School. The lot will be open November 27, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.; November 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; November 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and December 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; December 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, contact Scout Hockey Tree Chairs Jennifer Farrell at 708- 648-6138, or Beth Youdell at 773-396-4823.
