FRANCES ELKINS
Rizzoli has published a wide-ranging book on the timeless, elegant interiors of the versatile Frances Elkins, the grande dame of early 20th-century design. Ahead of her time, Elkins became a successful decorator who by the early 1930s had reached the top of her profession. Working throughout the United States, Elkins brought an international perspective and architectural sensibility to her work. Her social circle included couturière Coco Chanel, arts patron Misia Sert, and painter Salvador Dali. Showcasing never-before-published material, Scott Powell’s Frances Elkins: Visionary American Designer includes more than 60 interiors illustrating her outstanding sense of color and her gift for mixing periods and styles—from her early work on the Monterey Peninsula to the North Shore estates she designed with her brother, renowned architect David Adler, to homes for film star Edward G. MEMORIAL BUILDING HISTORIC PLAZA & RAILING CAMPAIGN
The Memorial Building was built to honor Hinsdale Residents who served in our wars and as a tribute to those brave soldiers that did not return home. This historic landmark is the centerpiece of our Village and has served as our natural front lawn for nearly 100 years. WARHOL EXHIBITION
On view through September 10 at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art in nearby Glen Ellyn, the WARHOL 2023 exhibition features more than 200 original works and photographs by the iconic artist, including 94 works comprising “Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop | Works from the Bank of America Collection” and a collection of 150 Warhol photographs and original works from College of DuPage’s Permanent Art Collection. Visitors can experience Andy Warhol’s life in over 11,000 feet of exhibition space that features interactive exhibits, recreations, and videos created exclusively for this show including a historical exhibit, Kids Pop Art Print Factory, Studio 54 Experience, Central Park-inspired outdoor area, and Silver Clouds installation. Venezuela-born Dubhe Carreño is a Chicago artist, ceramics professor, and former gallerist who opened a new showroom and studio in Lake Forest. Carreño’s primary goal is to offer her clients a space where they can experience both a finished curated collection of art and design as well as a closer and intimate look at the creative process. This Quiet Dust Ceramics Showroom regularly features artists with the common goal of creating beautiful, hand-crafted, ethically-made objects that celebrate the importance of making your living space unique, functional, and beautiful.
