WELCOME MADAM PRESIDENT
DR. JILL M. BAREN, a renowned academic, physician and administrator, will make history as the first woman president this July at Lake Forest College. Currently serving as Provost and Vice-president of Academic Affairs at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, she will be sworn in as the college’s 14th president. Baren is known as an inspiring leader with experience in medical ethics, experimental education, humanism, diversity, equity and inclusion, and a deep enthusiasm in the liberal arts. “Students need a strong foundation that includes art appreciation, cultural studies, communication and writing skills, scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving to develop into skilled professionals who can solve the most challenging problems that lie ahead,” she said.
LFHS FOUNDATION CELEBRATES EDUCATION AT THEIR 12TH ANNUAL LUNCHEON FUNDRAISER
INNOVATION AND INQUIRY are going strong at Lake Forest High School, where recent grants provide high-tech enhancements to the science labs, theaters, and the digital arts lab. Among the impactful gifts donated through the Lake Forest High School Foundation, the wow factor is evident in spaces that encourage collaboration, including the Business Incubator, Makerspace, and 21st Century Learning Labs. The Foundation also funds state-of-the-art equipment to fill these spaces in order to replicate professional environments, including sound studio equipment, 3D printers, robotics kits, theater sound systems, LED binocular microscopes, and MacBook Pro laptops loaded with high-powered design software. On April 29, a luncheon Celebrating Educational Excellence at LFHS hopes to raise the funds necessary to continue the Foundation’s commitment to supporting, and enriching teaching and learning at LFHS in ways that spark creative energy among the students and teachers.
