DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION ANNOUNCE 2021 AMERICAN HISTORY CONTEST WINNERS
The Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) recently announced the winners of its 2021 American History Essay Contest. Students in grades 5 to 8 were invited to participate in the contest by writing and submitting essays on the Boston Massacre. First place essay contest winners—all from Barrington School District 220—are Zofia Bizon, 5th grader at Roslyn Road Elementary; Abigail Betz, 6th grader at Station Middle School; Neev Patel, 7th grader at Prairie Campus; and Scout Storms, 8th grader at Station Middle School. Bizon went on to become a District IV and State winner and Storms a District IV winner. NSDAR is a volunteer women’s service organization headquartered in Washington, DC and founded in 1890. The local Barrington Chapter raises funds throughout the year and distributes them to 501 (c) (3) organizations whose missions support that of NSDAR: historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
