NOTORIOUS RBG
Just in time for Women’s History Month, the exhibition “Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg” opened February 9 at Illinois Holocaust Museum, and will run through August 16. Curated by the Skirball Cultural Center, this comprehensive showcase of Justice Ginsburg’s life features her numerous, often-simultaneous roles as a student, wife, mother, lawyer, judge, women’s rights pioneer, and Internet phenomenon. The exhibition tells Ginsburg’s story using a dynamic array of gallery interactive displays, listening stations, archival photographs and documents, historical artifacts, and contemporary art. “A key part of our mission at the Museum is teaching universal lessons to combat hatred, prejudice, and indifference,” said Illinois Holocaust Museum CEO Susan Abrams. “Few people convey these lessons more vividly than Ruth Bader Ginsburg. For decades, she has become of America’s great champions of equality. We are thrilled to host this exhibition and empower our visitors to be Upstanders like RBG.” Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the trailblazing life and accomplishments of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. March Madness
Congratulations to the St. Anne Cardinals 8th grade basketball team that just won the 2019-2020 Northwest Catholic Conference against Our Lady of Wayside in Arlington Heights. What makes this particularly extraordinary is that these same young men also won last year in 7th grade. This makes them the first team in St. Anne’s history to both win the championship and win back-to-back championships. The powerhouse team has been together since 5th grade. Their overall record for the last four seasons is 72 wins and 5 losses. Go team!
I Feel Pretty
There’s a brand new salon in town just in time for spring and a new look. Mandy Garcia is the owner of Amanda Jean Salon on Main Street, where guests are greeted with a smile, a hot towel, and a luxury water bottle. Diffused aromas fill the air as you consult with your stylist and move to the ultra-comfortable shampoo stations. “We have experienced stylists, and specialize in baliage, lived-in looks, and extensions in addition to cut and color. A breast cancer survivor, Garcia says, “I became infatuated with people looking good so they can feel good.” 124 E. Main Street, Barrington, 847-387-4053, amandajeansalon.com.
