The Barrington Area Conservation Trust’s (BACT)’s annual highlander-themed event, Tartans for the Trust, was held on August 28 at the Barrington Hills Park District Riding Club. Founded in 2001 by Mary Bradford-White, BACT’s mission is to preserve the open space, rural character, and scenic, recreational, and natural resources of the Barrington communities.
Since BACT’s inception in 2001, they have preserved over 520 acres of land in the Barrington Area including conservation easements on private homeowner property as well as BACT’s own nature preserves. BACT’s conservation initiatives focus on preserving private land and water resources, restoring the properties preserved, and educating and inspiring the community to participate in local conservation efforts. bactrust.org
