Scott A. Burton, a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Virginia School of Law, approaches his law practice with a unique perspective, one that focuses on client service and an advanced problem-solving approach to both legal and non-legal issues. “I find tremendous joy in working with individuals, families, and business owners to simplify the law, apply it to their lives, and provide them with valuable solutions to their needs and concerns,” says Burton, who worked throughout the country in government, public interest, and private law practice prior to establishing a practice specializing in estate planning, small business counsel, and real estate. “When most people are in need of an attorney, it is because they find themselves in stressful circumstances. The first thing I tell my clients is that I’m here to help.” A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps who participated in combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, Burton says his sense of service and justice continues to carry through in his professional and personal life. “I am fiercely loyal, and always concerned with what is right, just, and fair. I can also appreciate a good joke even when I’m the only one who finds it funny,” he says, telling the story of how when he was admitted into the Illinois Bar, his sister accompanied him to the induction ceremony but was preoccupied with a flooded basement in her apartment. “As a newly minted lawyer posing with her and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for a picture, I turned to my sister and said, “OK, now let’s go sue your landlord!”
