With the rising incidence of colon and rectal cancer among younger populations, Dr. Eftaiha has observed increased adoption of preventive measures, treatment options, and robotic surgical technology for minimally invasive abdominal procedures. “Colorectal surgery encompasses surgical treatments for colon, rectal, and anal cancers, inflammatory bowel diseases, and diverticulitis,” he says, “and robotics has greatly enhanced the precision of surgery in the pelvis.” Committed to establishing robotic minimally invasive colorectal surgery at Lake Forest Hospital, he prioritizes patient care with kindness, respect, and compassion.

Highlighting the importance of colonoscopy, Dr. Omar notes its ability to detect colorectal cancer early and prevent it by removing precancerous polyps. “This proactive approach makes gastroenterology essential in reducing cancer-related mortality and improving patient outcomes,” she says.
