It was 2006, and Lori Glattly had it all. She had a caring husband, a loving family and a real estate business that was thriving on the North Shore.
And then everything came tumbling down.
“I lost my husband in an accident that year, and I was faced with the task of picking up the pieces and finding a way to go on,” says the Koenig Rubloff agent who now partners with her daughter-in-law Courtney in The Glattly Group. “I basically had to reinvent myself.”
And that’s exactly what she did.
Flash forward 12 years, and Glattly finds herself at the height of her career. Not only has she listed and sold over 100 million dollars worth of high-end real estate in communities such as Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, but she also has seen great success helping her clients with buying and selling real estate in the lush community of Naples, Florida and in its surrounding communities.
“Naples has always been a special place to me,” says Glattly, who first started spending time in the area at the tender age of six years old. “Every time I go there and I feel those wheels hit the runway, it’s as if I can take a deep breath again.”
Glattly says that through the years, she has seen Naples go from a sleepy beach town to an elegant destination. “What a lot of people don’t know is that the community culture there is much like the community culture we have here on the North Shore,” she explains. “But when it comes to real estate, it’s important to remember that Florida is a transactional brokerage state, so it’s extremely important to always work with a trusted professional.”
But while her work in Naples may keep Glattly up in the air occasionally while she travels back and forth to meet all of her client’s needs, make no mistake—her boots are firmly planted on the ground here.
“The fact is that I have my finger on the pulse of both markets, and that is something that my clients can benefit from in many ways,” she says. “And while my business is split evenly between the two markets, the truth is that I’m here in the area over 70 percent of the time.”
Oh, and yes, did we mention Glattly is also a cofounder of a local construction company?
“My knowledge about design and building has ended up being a very useful tool when it comes to working with my real estate clients,” says Glattly, who started the construction company with her partner back in 2012. “Very often I will be walking through a home that someone is looking to buy and eventually renovate, and I can use my construction knowledge to help them envision what could be. To me, this kind of knowledge adds a lot of value to the overall relationship.”
And while she admits to just being one of those high energy people that thrives on busy days, the question remains—how does she do it all?
“I have an amazing support system both here and in Naples that I rely on each and every day,” she explains. “Without them, I truly don’t know where I would be or how I would be able to fit it all in.”
She also has someone else on her side.
“I am a woman of great faith,” she says quietly. “I truly feel that God has led me to where I am today. And I couldn’t be happier.”
