Raising the Bar

If you’re looking for an agent who embodies the energy and dedication you expect out a realtor, meet Peggy Smego with Coldwell Banker. “Every day I wake up so excited for the unknown,” she says. She isn’t afraid of spontaneity or out-of-the-ordinary requests. In fact, that’s when she’s at her best. Part of the reason she doesn’t shy away from unplanned adventures is because she knows the industry so well. “Knowing my market is the best thing I can offer my clients,” she says. “Educating buyers and sellers and building their trust sets our journey together on the right footing.” Smego’s specialties include helping first-time home buyers, relocating buyers, and downsizers—and their expectations have all changed considerably over the years. Thanks to the Internet, social media and home shows on television, buyers come to the table with a lot more industry knowledge than they used to. Plus, they know about design trends. “The bar was raised with staging and current looks for today’s expectations,” Smego says. In other ways, though, the rules haven’t changed, especially when it comes to delivering for clients. “It still takes a 24/7 mentality and a lot of hard work,” she says. “With information making its way to your client so quickly, the ability to respond in a timely fashion is critical.” Smego has worked with top real estate attorneys, inspectors, and moving companies over the years so when a client asks for recommendations, Smego has a carefully curated list to choose from. “Hinsdale is a special community in which to work,” Smego says. When she had medical crisis in her family, she had amazing support and so many people who came to her aid. “I can be the poster child for the western suburbs because the people here have been amazing in every aspect of the word. There isn’t a day that goes by that I get to see someone reaching out to help another.”
Peggy Smego is with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, located at 8 E. Hinsdale Avenue in Hinsdale, 630- 561-2379, peggysmego.com.
