Every day brings something different for Megan McCleary, a real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff Realty Group. And that’s one of the things she loves about her job. “People move for many different reasons, so I encounter a wide range of varying life circumstances,” she says. My team and I are with them every step of the way.” One big change McCleary has witnessed in the industry is access to information. “Buyers know what they want,” she says. HGTV and online resources like Houzz provide all kinds of information and trend reports to buyers. Also, the large majority of buyers now prefer homes that are current and move-in ready. “Fewer buyers have the time or desire to make improvements, and staging and market preparation is all the more important for homes to be camera and show ready,” she says. That’s a key area where the McCleary Group can help. “Preparation and presentation are critical. You only get one chance to make a first impression. Make it a good one,” she adds. McCleary is also sensitive to the fact that the large majority of people are emotionally attached to their homes. “When it is your home, it is truly more than an investment,” she says, especially in a neighborhood like Hinsdale. It’s an investment in a community. “I have lived in the Hinsdale community for 15 years, raising my two kids with my husband. Hinsdale is home to me,” she says. Real estate is ever evolving, and new styles, trends and technologies continue to change. That’s why you won’t see McCleary leaving the industry anytime soon. “There are always new things on the horizon in real estate,” she says. “That’s what keeps it fresh and exciting.”
