Dr. Manoj Mehta and Dr. Laura K. Bianchi welcome Dr. Rebecca Tsang to The Endoscopy Center of the North Shore, marking both a professional milestone and a deeply personal homecoming.
Dr. Tsang grew up in Wilmette and Winnetka, where her late father practiced gastroenterology and built enduring relationships throughout the North Shore community. As partners, he mentored Dr. Mehta’s directly. Years later Dr. Tsang herself would go on to work alongside Dr. Mehta and Dr. Bianchi at NorthShore University HealthSystem, now Endeavor Health.
“Joining The Endoscopy Center of the North Shore allows me to continue serving this community in a way that reflects my values,” says Dr. Tsang, a New Trier Township High School graduate. “I’m able to provide thoughtful, patient-centered gastroenterology care in an environment that truly supports how I strive to practice medicine.”
Her path into medicine was shaped early by watching her father care for patients on the North Shore. Accompanying him to the hospital while he was on call and spending time in his office, she saw firsthand the trust and continuity he built with families over decades—an approach that continues to guide her own work today.
During her years practicing locally, Dr. Tsang had the privilege of caring for many of her father’s long-time patients, an experience she describes as a meaningful way to honor his legacy. Joining his former business partner at The Endoscopy Center of the North Shore—alongside two physicians who were once her own colleagues—brought that full-circle moment into focus.
Located in a state-of-the-art, spa-like facility on Evanston’s Central Street, The Endoscopy Center of the North Shore has earned a reputation for its patient-first philosophy, emphasizing trust, communication, and individualized care.
“Although our hands are tied in large part by insurance companies, we are doing our part to restore the one-on-one experience that has long defined excellence in health care,” says Dr. Mehta. “The desire to practice medicine the way we believe is best for patients is why we chose an independent setting.”
For Dr. Tsang, whose practice focuses on general gastroenterology and a wide range of digestive conditions, the alignment was immediate. Like Dr. Mehta and Dr. Bianchi, she takes a holistic, patient-centered approach—recognizing that gastrointestinal health is closely connected to daily life, mental well-being, and overall health.
Together, the physicians share a commitment not only to diagnosing and treating disease, but to enhancing quality of life through compassion, communication, and collaboration. Their collective mission is to ensure patients feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their care.
The Endoscopy Center of the North Shore is located on Central Street in Evanston, takes most insurances, answers all calls and messages in a timely fashion, and even for procedures is almost always running on time. An anesthesia provider is always available. Dr. Bianchi emphasizes, “people have options for excellence in health care that do not have to revolve around the big hospital systems. We work to treat each person as an individual—no one should be treated as just a number.”
