Think of it as yoga for the house. The practice of yoga is about breathing, and our houses need to breathe too. That’s where Gordon Tai of Panasonic Eco Solutions comes in. Tai and his sales team handle distribution for Panasonic’s line of healthy home products to home design showrooms in the Chicago region, including the North Shore.
Panasonic’s products include a line of whole home filtration systems and bathroom ceiling fans that are designed to keep moisture out and mitigate the potential for mold, bringing fresh air into the home even when the windows are closed.
“Our products are part of living a healthy lifestyle,” Tai says. “Parents have become more health conscious and we want to extend that consciousness to how our homes work.”
When most people think of the Panasonic brand they think of televisions and other home entertainment products that Panasonic doesn’t even manufacture anymore. But the company has been in the healthy home business for over 25 years.
“I want to bring awareness to homeowners and designers of our superior products,” Tai says. “Anyone can stop by an authorized local showroom and purchase a Panasonic fan.”
“Panasonic’s bathroom ceiling fans are more powerful than its competitors,” Tai says. “And while most ceiling fans are connected to ductwork, Panasonic fans push air naturally out of the house, minimizing risks associated with water usage. That’s because our ventilation fans are designed to automatically increase power if necessary minimizing moisture damage.”
He adds that his line of fans is quieter than the competition. “There’s nothing worse than a loud fan that no one wants to turn on,” he says.
While home air filtration and purification systems have been on the market for decades, health trends and increased regulation of the construction industry have made them more popular. States such as Minnesota have passed new regulations requiring builders to install full home air filtration systems in all new construction.
In Illinois, the regulations on builders in regard to air filtration systems are a bit more vague and not rigorously enforced, but Tai says that shouldn’t stop homeowners from wanting to breathe healthy air inside their homes.
“Air conditioning and heating units simply recycle air that’s already in the home,” Tai says. “Since newer homes are less drafty, there’s very little fresh air coming in.” Air filtration systems bring fresh air into the home and create a healthier home environment.
Tai adds that parents and families need to consider the long-term risks of breathing poor-quality air when buying a home.
“Healthy air is a forgotten thing,” he says. “You don’t feel the effects of bad air right away, like you would after drinking spoiled milk. The benefit of a high-quality air filtration system can be measured over time.”
Panasonic’s latest line of air filtration systems, called Intellibalance and WhisperGreen Select, are designed to help builders meet even the stiffest regulations on in-home air quality and to help consumers cut back on energy costs. A key feature is that they continue to operate at the
advertised power level over a longer period of time.
“One of the advantages of Panasonic products is that power levels don’t deteriorate once they’re installed and operational,” Tai says. “Oftentimes other products will underperform based on the conditions.”
Whether it’s bathroom ceiling fans or home air filtration systems, Gordon Tai wants homeowners on the North Shore to know they can ensure their families breathe clean air in their homes with products from Panasonic Eco Solutions.
