Overcoming Life’s Challenges

They are the worries that keep you up at night. They are the uncertainties that fill your brain throughout the day. But most of all, they are the hopes and dreams that you have worked your whole life to fulfill … you just might need a little help to fulfill them.
That’s where The Mancusi Group steps in.
“I think sometimes we act as a therapist as much as we act as a financial advisor,” admits veteran wealth manager Lou Mancusi, managing director and founding partner of The Mancusi Group of Lake Forest. “Some of these folks are dealing with what they feel are insurmountable challenges both financially and personally, and sometimes, just having a long-term plan is going to reassure them that everything is going to be ok.”
Specializing in a wide range of financial advisory services such as investment counsel, retirement, and financial planning for high net worth individuals, The Mancusi Group joined longtime wealth management and investment banking firm Noyes back in 2015. It has continued to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of their clients ever since.
“It is a time of growth and change for us,” explains Mancusi, who provides his clients with a broad variety of wealth management services, such as individually managed accounts and retail brokerage services. “We have gone from five people in the office to seven and we are bringing in some huge net worth individuals. We are also expanding our estate planning services and expanding our accounting services. In fact, we now have an attorney on staff, which is something that our clients appreciate.”
Indeed, it’s also a time of transition for many of The Mancusi Group’s clients, who often are college educated, senior level executives that are approaching their retirement years. In fact, statistics show that 10,000 people are retiring each day, and that transition to retirement can be quite scary.
“It can be stressful wondering if one will be able to generate income from their life savings where they won’t have to compromise their lifestyle,” explains Lauren Holwell, who serves as a Wealth Advisor and a Partner within The Mancusi Group. “Working with them to create a customized financial plan to meet their needs is extremely important.”
Of course, the definition of retirement has changed immensely in recent years.
“Retirement has become such a bad word for some,” chuckles Mancusi, who served as executive eirector at Oppenheimer & Co. in Lake Forest before joining Noyes. “People are looking instead to starting a new chapter rather than retire per se. They want to travel and they want to be active members of their community.”
The Mancusi Group also specializes in wealth transfer.
“There is a ton of emotion with what we do,” explains Holwell. “You add family dynamics into the mix and it can become even more complicated. In fact, we have people that come into our office and quite frankly, some of them are very scared. But they don’t need to be. We can plan together to ensure that they can maintain the lifestyle they are used to. Money is very personal. That is for sure.”
“We can make things that much clearer if we just break it down for them,” adds Mancusi. “Sometimes it can be as simple as reviewing your insurance needs. Sometimes things can get so much clearer just be getting rid of policies you no longer need.”
Couples going through divorce also often find their way to the offices of The Mancusi Group.
“Working through a divorce is never easy,” says Holwell. “People don’t always know how to make decisions about how to invest the money now coming in, so we can certainly help with that.”
Of course, at the heart of The Mancusi Group is their desire to help the people in the community of which they not only work, but live.
“We constantly run into folks out there within the community,” says Mancusi. “It’s nice to see them live the life they have worked so hard for.”
