Adam King is the Director of Sales at King’s Landscape Design, a high-end landscape design-build firm specializing in estate-scale landscapes and year-round outdoor living environments. Their work focuses on extending the seasonal use of the outdoors through thoughtfully designed outdoor landscapes that are built to last.
What does luxury mean to you in 2026?
Luxury in 2026 is effortless excellence. It’s not about excess—it’s about intention. A space should look incredible and work flawlessly without the homeowner thinking about it. If it doesn’t age well, perform well, or simplify life, it’s not luxury—it’s just expensive.
What trends or shifts are most influencing your work right now?
Right now, the biggest shift is the push to extend outdoor seasons through architecture. Clients are investing in pavilions, three-season rooms, and covered structures that allow their landscapes to perform beyond summer. These spaces aren’t accessories—they’re anchors. When designed correctly, they expand usable square footage outdoors and redefine how the property is experienced year-round.
How do you tailor your approach for clients who expect both beauty and performance?
We design outdoor spaces based on how the area will be used. Entertaining, privacy, durability, year-round enjoyment—those are non-negotiables. From there, beauty becomes a byproduct of smart planning. When form follows function correctly, the result always feels elevated.
How are sustainability, wellness, or longevity showing up in your work today?
For us, sustainability shows up as longevity. We design and build outdoor spaces that hold up—structurally, aesthetically, and functionally—over time. That means durable materials, proven construction methods, and plantings that mature gracefully instead of needing constant replacement. Wellness comes from creating outdoor environments people actually use—spaces that feel balanced, comfortable, and easy to live in.
