Interior designer Kaylan Kane established Olive Juice Interiors in 2008, which was recently renamed as the eponymous Kaylan Kane Designs. Kane specializes in residential design, refurbishing vintage treasures, creating custom furniture, event styling, and helping clients create beautiful spaces. Her design mission is to create clean, fresh rooms with unexpected accessories and color that reflects the client’s personality.

Why do you love what you do? I love helping clients enhance their spaces and turn their houses into homes that reflect their personality.

What sets you apart from your competition? I have worked with a variety of different budgets, styles, and people. I think it is important to purchase things you love and that bring you joy no matter what your budget is.

Past trends you’d like to see return? Color and pattern. I think we are coming out of our monochromatic high-end designs and moving into a more colorful future with natural elements and warm wood tones again.

Trends on the horizon? Ruffled skirts on sofas and pleated sofa skirts. We have been all about the leggy mid-century modern sofa legs. I would love to see those legs covered up with a sofa skirt again!

Best advice ever given to you? My favorite boss always expressed her gratitude for everything she had. I think it is so important to be grateful for all of our blessings, big or small.

Best advice you’ve given? Invest in the real estate value and architecture of your home. A home with good bones and thoughtful architecture is a good thing.

Favorite mantra? Work hard and be nice!
