On My Desk

Running an interior design business requires a lot of surface space for samples, mood boards, invoices, and the like so my desk gets heavy attention. Right now the tabletop is filled with assorted items for the guest bedroom I am designing for the 2020 Lake Forest Showhouse benefitting the Infant welfare Society of Chicago. I like to incorporate vintage treasures, which can provide use while lending beauty. A water lily fashioned in English porcelain serves as an office supply cachepot, while a Murano dish holds office snacks or sweets to get through a busy workday. Stacks of vintage bamboo lap trays, purchased several years back at Infant Welfare’s Antiques & Treasures in the Field, corral my client work/samples and inspiration in an organized (OK, semi-organized) stack. Nearby are essentials which provide added support, such as a never-ending cup of coffee or tea, a rich, fragrant hand cream, and the endless to dos and appointments in my various calendars.
