For most people who want to lose weight to improve their health, weight loss surgery is the most effective long-term method. But the choice to have surgery is a big one.
“There’s a lot of stigmas around weight loss surgery and weight loss medications,” Dr. Nicholas Skertich says. “Surgery isn’t an easy way out—it’s a tool, and patients put in the hard work to lose weight.”
If you’re ready to make the leap, Dr. Skertich and his team work closely with patients to prepare them for surgery.
“We want to offer the best possible solution, whether that’s surgery or another intervention,” Dr. Skertich says. “We’re here no matter what and want the best results for our patients.”
You will also meet with a team of specialists who help prepare you for and optimize your health prior to surgery. They will help you make the necessary lifestyle changes for sustained weight loss.
After your surgical procedure at Rush University Medical Center the team follows our patients closely. Follow-up care can be completed virtually or at many of our Rush locations.
“I enjoy working in bariatric surgery specifically because I have a long-term relationship with my patients,” Dr. Skertich says.
Rush Oak Brook is located at 2011 York Road in Oak Brook, 630-724-1300, rush.edu/services/bariatricsurgery-services.
