Attorney Nadia Shamsi prides herself on helping people navigate some of the hardest chapters in their lives. “I want to be there to support their goals, protect their families, and get them to the end of the tunnel,” explains Shamsi, a Hinsdale resident whose practice is focused exclusively on family law. “I truly care about the people in my neighborhood, what they are going through, and I care about their families.” With legal expertise that ranges from complex high-asset divorces, post-decree modifications and enforcement, contested parentage cases, custody and visitation issues, grandparent visitation, maintenance and child support, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and orders of protection, Shamsi has been recognized as a Rising Star by the American Institute of Legal Advocates and named an Emerging Lawyer four years in a row. A Certified Financial Litigator and a member of the American Academy for Certified Financial Litigators, she was inspired to become a lawyer after watching the struggles her father endured more than 20 years ago when someone stole money from his business. “My father had formed his company with his best friend shortly after arriving in the United States from England. This business was my dad’s entire world— his livelihood,” she explains. “My father retained an incredible attorney, who helped him navigate a difficult time in our lives as a family. When the matter was done, and my dad got his money back, I remember him telling me to become an attorney, and help people like his attorney helped our family.” That’s exactly what she did and she continues to help others, whether it’s through her practice or service to the community. In addition to volunteering at the Hinsdale History Museum and her involvement with the Hinsdale Historical Society, Shamsi is on the Ambassador’s Board of Legal Aid Chicago, which provides free civil legal services to people living in poverty.
