Modern Edge

It has been just over a year since husband-and-wife team Dr. Ramzi Daibis and Dr. Tamara Oweis opened Band & Wire Orthodontics in Clarendon Hills but loyal patients know they’ve already contributed a lot to the community. Both doctors are board-certified orthodontists who always look for ways to deliver something new to their clientele.
As a modern orthodontic practice, Band & Wire is in a league of its own; they set themselves apart in many unique ways.
Being able to communicate with a healthcare provider is one of the most important things a patient wants out of the relationship. Unfortunately, this is often more difficult than it should be. Band & Wire now offers a unique solution; “We are text-able,” says Dr. Daibis. “Anyone can now securely text us, and that text is sent to a doctor or team member for a quick response.” Patients can simply text a question, request to make or change an appointment, or even send pictures of their treatment progress to receive doctor feedback and directions.
For new patients, Band & Wire is also making the introduction process easier by offering virtual consultations. “We can do a quick consultation over text,” Dr. Daibis says. “This includes texting a couple of photos of their smile and teeth from different angles, which we then use to do a basic orthodontic evaluation, or give a second opinion, if applicable. We present a couple of treatment options, answer questions, and discuss treatment steps,” he adds.
Invisalign remains a popular treatment option as an alternative to traditional braces. However, most people think of Invisalign as a treatment option for adults and not children. Dr. Daibis and Dr. Oweis specialize in Invisalign and offer it as an option to treat children as young as 7 years old. “It’s more comfortable, quicker, and just as effective as traditional braces,” Dr. Oweis says. “It is noteworthy to mention that our treatment philosophy is more conservative especially when it comes to starting treatment early. We do not recommend orthodontic treatment for younger children unless it is necessary. We make sure to distinguish between elective and necessary treatment. We always offer parents more than one option and we help them choose the best option for them,” she adds.
Finally, for limited cases where small corrections are needed, Band & Wire can create clear aligners in-house using 3D printing technology. “This substantially reduces treatment cost and turnaround time without compromising the outcome,” Dr. Daibis says. “This is a great option to address minor shifting that happens over time. It is a quick and easy fix!”
Outside the office, Band & Wire is very active in the local community. They sponsor many community events, sports teams, and nonprofit organizations. They have also started a summer book donation campaign; school-aged children choose a favorite book to donate to their school library.
Band & Wire does things differently, but their focus is always the patient. Their primary goal is to make the smile experience exceptional, convenient, and memorable.
This is what their vision “To better smiles and change lives” is all about.
