Dr. Kevin M. Jackson specializes in minimally invasive spinal surgery, aggressive spinal tumor resection, and complex spinal reconstruction. Most patients come to him for his expertise and surgical opinion on neck or low back pain, often with some symptoms of pain, weakness, or tingling in their arms and legs. “I believe the past 20 years has seen exponential growth in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery,” he shares, “which has allowed for minimal tissue trauma, shorter recovery, and less blood loss and pain following procedures.” Over the next 20 years, he anticipates AI will be a tremendous advantage for radiographic diagnostics with the potential for sorting data “to help physicians and researchers find innovative ways to improve healthcare delivery.”
Dr. Michael T. Walsh specializes in surgical diseases of the brain and spine with extensive training in the field, including complex neurosurgery in Japan. His research interests include 3D animation, virtual and augmented reality, and 3D printing, and uses these as education tools for both his medical students and patients. Dr. Walsh has a strong passion for patient education and co-founded Brainsprout Media, a 3D animation company dedicated to using cutting edge storytelling tools to improve communication between health care providers and patients. A favorite quote of Dr. Walsh’s is “It is much more important to know what sort of person has the disease, than to know what sort of disease the person has.” “Even in neurosurgery,” he says, “relationships are of the utmost importance, and, at the end of the day, patients are going to do so much better if they truly know they’ve been cared for.”
