Since graduating from Notre Dame Law School in 2010, Matthew D. Elster has focused his practice on civil appeals, both as a law clerk for an appellate court justice and in private practice, primarily representing domestic relations clients in all stages of trial and appellate litigation. Elster, who serves on the Associate Board of One Tail at a Time, an animal rescue agency in Chicago, says his deep knowledge of the law, a wide breadth of legal experience, and his ability to craft winning arguments sets him apart from the competition. “It’s not over until it’s over,” he shares with his clients from the start. “Invariably, every case that goes to trial involves a winner and a loser. In family law cases, losing often involves far more than just money. An unfavorable result at trial is not the end. The appellate process provides clients with the ability to right wrongs which may have occurred in the trial court.” He admits that every case he takes on is unique, with its own set of facts, legal issues, and problems to solve. He enjoys the opportunity to help his clients.
