What’s old is new again for Powder Coating Specialists, a Brookfield business that can turn old metal furniture and fixtures into pieces you can be proud of.
When spring arrives and you start to uncover patio furniture for another sum- mer of outdoor entertaining, rust and grime are the last things you want to see. Powder Coating Specialists, a metal refinishing company, is one of the area’s best options to help bring new life into old metal furniture. The team can refinish almost anything metal—from chairs to tables to light fixtures to plant- ers—at its 4,500-square-feet. location in Brookfield. Powder coating looks like paint, but it’s a better finish for metal that also serves as a protective coating and has a much longer lifespan than any paint. Powder Coat Specialists can also repair metal items; not just refinish them. And this year, the company is expanding its services to allow for a quicker and easier experience. Customers can now upload photos of potential projects to the company’s website, and receive a repair estimate within 24 hours that includes colors of powder coat- ing options as well as fabric slings and vinyl strapping options. And while in the spring and summer, the company is mostly focused on metal furniture customers, a large focus is also on radiators, vents, and covers, which can be updated during the summer when there isn’t a need for heating. “There is such a demand for refinishing these items as they can go from being the eyesore to a focus in a room once the layers of old paint are removed and the original detail is restored,” says Krissy Dziewior, who owns Powder Coating Specialists and its Patio Partner division together with her husband Jim. The company also offers pickup and delivery service. “Customers really want one place for all their needs,” Dziewior adds. “We understand that, and really try to be that place for our customers.” For example, in addition to the sandblasting and powder coating for patio furniture, the company also does weld repairs, offers replacement parts including foot glides and bouncer plates, adds new fabric slings or straps with installation, steam cleans cushions, does pickup and delivery, and offers indoor storage in the winter months. “What may look like just an ordinary chair to someone may be a very important family heirloom or have very personal meaning attached,” Dziewior says. “We hear so many wonderful stories about rocking chairs that have been in families for decades, or pieces that were bought for anniversary gifts or even an old set being refinished as a housewarming gifts for their child’s first home. We have learned to care for each item as our own.”
